What is the purpose of Life Groups?

  1. To Grow Spiritually in Christ (Ephesians 4:11-16)
  2. To Grow in Community as the Body of Christ (I Corinthians 12:14-27)
  3. To Grow Evangelistically at the Command of Christ (Matthew 28:18-20)

What is a small group?

A small group is a gathering a about 8-12 people who meet together weekly for Bible study, fellowship and prayer.  At Calvary Fellowship Church we have adopted the name "Life Groups" for our small groups.

Why small groups?

Today's culture is craving community.  We want you to feel connected and part of our church community.  With small groups we are able to connect you with others to start meaningful relationships.

Why are they called "Life Groups?"

Our small groups are called "Life Groups" because we are all going through life together.  You will experience triumphs, tragedies and confustion along the way.  However, if you are involved in a Life Group you will never have to endure life on your own.

How do I become part of a Life Group?

You can join a Life Group several easy ways:

  • You may call our church office at 636-225-4684 and we will be happy to connect you with the appropriate Life Group.
  • You may also fill out a paper form and drop it in the offering plate, give it to an usher, or drop it in the registration box in the church foyer.  Forms are available in the church lobby.

How are the groups arranged?

Most groups are based on geographic location.  Other groups may form based on age groups or other common interests, such as our Young Adult Life Group (Ages 18-29).  You may attend the group of your choice.  We current have groups in Fenton, Arnold/Imperial, Eureka and Ballwin.

What are you studying?

You will enjoy a series called "Doing Life Together," formed out of Saddleback Church.  It is a 6-part seriers that covers 36 weeks.  The Young Adult study ("Threads") is produces by LifeWay and focuses on helping you "Piece Life Together, One Experience at a Time..."  It's purpose is to help you find Truth, community and a chance to make a difference in the world.

When do the groups meet?

Your Life Group will meet weekly.  Each group will determine the best weeknight and place for you to meet.  Groups can meet in homes, coffee shops, churches or wherever the group desires.

Can I test it out?

Definately!  Just fill out the registration form (see above) and we will help you connect with the Life Group of your choice.

Do I have to join now?

If you wish to join a Life Group at a later date we would love to have you whenever you decide to join.  Just fill out a registration form and well help you connect with your new group.

Who is in charge?

Each group will have a Leader or Leaders.  The purpose of the leader is not to lecture or preach to you, but rather to act as a facilitator for discussion and interation.  Your group will also have an Apprentice who will be preparing to lead a new group once your group becomes too large.

Can I invite my friends?

We would love to have your friends join us!  One of the main goals for Life Groups is to grow evangelistically at the command of Christ.  We encourage you to invite your friends and neighbors to a Life Group meeting.  Your friends may feel more comfortable joining you in a group setting such as this than in the church.  Life Groups are a great way for them to develop a sense of "belonging" before they take the next step of "becoming".

What if our group gets too big?

This is a great problem to have!  When groups get too large in number it can become hard for you to become close or feel comfortable sharing.  For this reason, there is an Apprentice in each group who will be ready to form a second group with some of the members from the orginal group.

God longs for you to have rich, genuine connections with him and a handful of other people.  Life Groups will help you connect more deeply with Jesus Christ and build genuine relationships with Christian friends.  Christ's love makes it possible for you to be known and to know others, to be loved and to love, to resolve conflict effectively, and to move outward together in faith.

Life Group is a small group Bible study which meets in homes, cafes, and anywhere they wishes to meet.  We currently have groups in differnet geographic areas to allow everyone the opportunity to attend a small group close to home.

If you would like more information on Life Groups, you can email us, or call us at 636-225-4684 and we would be happy to provide more information or connect you with one of our Life Group leaders.

Getting Old

Greetings.  Doug asked me if I was going to continue my blog during the time I am filling in as pastor.  I told Brenda, “I think that is Doug’s subtle way of telling me I need to be a little more consistent in my blogging.”  He assures me that is not the case. I told him I would continue for awhile and see how it goes.

I had a good Christmas.  As is our tr...
